I thought that through this post i would show you some of the new and improved social features in My Site. Below you will see an image of the my profile page one of the elements that go to make up the much improved my site in SharePoint 2010.
This page is really the heart of your social world in SharePoint 2010 as from this page you can manage your tags, Colleagues and files. The Organization tab gives you access to the silverlight organization chart, from this application you can navigate to others sites. All of this info is pulled from your active directory via the user profile import.
The content tab gives access to your files that you have uploaded to your shared or personal documents and also to your personal blog. Next is the tags and notes
From this tab you can see you activities across all the sites where you have tagged documents also the tag cloud is visible from here. Any tags that you have created can also be deleted from this tab.
The Colleagues tab is where not only can you add other members of the site but also delete and edit colleagues from this interface.
This has been a whirlwind tour of My site and in the future i will do a more in-depth posts including ratings and search.
Dave

I want to be able to connect to the personal documents library in the My sites from a portal site. Is this possible. The scenario is when I login to the portal site there should be a small area of screen that lists a few documents from my documents in My site – Personal Documents

Yes Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise and standard edition includes Mysite. MySite enables users to obtain access to a personalized view of the information that is relevant to them. Users control access to information that they put in a MySite. They select whether their colleagues, manager, or everyone in the organization can see individual items.
