A twitter conversation started on Saturday night with Benjamin Athawes, Todd Klindt, Glyn Clough and myself about a problem Ben had seen using an iPad to view SharePoint sites it appears that if you view a SharePoint site on an iPad once loaded you cannot scroll down the page, during the load all appears fine but once loaded you cannot scroll down the entire page.
Now Glyn came to the rescue with the advice of trying a 2 finger scroll which magically works.
Now I am not sure about an iPad2 so if someone could try this and please comment if it works, And thanks Glyn for this clever work around..

Dave – I had the problem on the iPad2.
The 2-finger workaround resolves it.

I would highly suggest against this as a complete solution. While yes it does bring back scrolling behavior it’s less than obvious to an anonymous user. Remember the scrolling experience is that a single finger will work for every other site except SP 2010 sites. We need to match that expectation instead of the other way around for public sites.
I have a solution that hides the ribbon for anonymous users (I don’t know why so many people think it’s acceptable to show the ribbon anonymously since it has no purpose for those users). Doing that and adding some CSS returns scrolling as expected.

Just tried accessing Twynham’s gateway with an iPad 2 and the two finger scroll workaround did the job.

Hi. Here are a few workarounds that should work to – goo.gl/XqVax
I’m not totally convinced with the scrolling mechanism for SP2010 in any browser. Especially when you hit a laggy environment, waiting for the scrollbars to load can be rather annoying at times.

Just tried this one on a iPad2 which we bought for testing and with two fingers it actually works. Asked a collegeauge about this issue, he said that it could be something to do with the scrollbars of safarai which are not shown on a large page…
So you don’t have to wait for the scrollbars to be loaded, they are loaded as the page is finised…

Thats one problem just nailed then, cheers Dave, I dont suppose you’ve had any luck editing documents on sharepoint when using an ipad have you? The virtual keyboard doesnt come up when i’m clicking in a document, I’d bet money on it that the bluetooth keyboard would crack that problem but I dont have one to test it with just yet.
Cheers again

Just had a little play, tried safari, opera mini and atomic lite web browsers, it looks like the rich text fields in sharepoint dont trigger the virtual keyboard, I tried adding a blog post and I could put the title but when I tried clicking in the body field the whole box highlighted and the keyboard wouldnt appear.
