Built on Microsoft SharePoint ® and designed with teachers, pupils and school administrators in mind, the Online Options Tool from SharePointEduTech comes in three parts that work seamlessly to manage your option choice process at GCSE, A Level or indeed at any point where you ask pupils to make a subject choice.

The Subject Catalogue

This very graphical approach to the subject catalogue allows the student and parent, with appropriate permission to find out all they need to know about a subject.

  • How it is taught
  • What exam board the school uses
  • What type of pupil the subject attracts
  • What career or HE path the subject could support

Users can browse the carousel and watch sample lessons, read or listen to pupils opinions and then add the subject to their “interested basket” for later consideration.

At the side of the subject catalogue, the school may wish to define a series of key dates, highlighting deadlines for the process.

The Selection Form

The selection table reflects the subjects that pupils previously highlighted an interest in. This fully flexible solution meets the needs of a school offering free choices or a subject choice within option column boundaries.

We can even cope with excluded combinations, preferred ratings, or even subjects covering two option columns such as Further Mathematics or DiDA ICT.

Once pupils have selected their options, the solution can be customised to meet your school’s requirements in any order:

  • Notify the parent of the choices made
  • Inform the tutor of choices and seek approval
  • Schedule meetings with tutors to discuss choices

The A2 Course Add-On

If you have specific differences between AS and A2 that you wish to highlight, such as:

  • University placements
  • Oxbridge arrangements
  • Key skills
  • Reading lists

You can select to apply the A2 Course Add-On feature. Selecting this allows you to record those specific pieces of information. If the subject does not run at A2, for whatever reason, simply leave the fields empty and the tab will not show.

CSV Output and Monitoring
